Seni - Japanese for "fighting spirit" Europe's biggest combat sports expo
Seni is the industry’s acknowledged
meeting place, visited by thousands of dedicated martial artists, exponents,
instructors and enthusiasts and a melting pot for the entire industry to
exchange ideas and discover the latest innovations, products, arts and
services. The most complete inter-active martial arts experience, Seni08
represents the festival’s 10th year anniversary and to mark this fantastic
achievement and to celebrate the Beijing Olympics, the show is set to be
part of the Chinese governments ‘China Now’ festivities, so expect a subtle
Chinese flavour running through the event. Similarly, Seni08 will positively
reflect the fact that the UK will be hosting the 2012 Olympics. Split into
six distinctly themed zones – ‘Classical Warrior’, ‘FightSport’,
‘PowerSport’, ‘Survival’, ‘Tournament’ and Olympic Youth -each of the zones
delivers a unique pro-active experience, including exciting feature events
and talent to enable the show to appeal to the widest range of fighting art
enthusiasts. The Seni show stretches across 15,000 square metres in Halls
S9-S15 of the ExCeL, with over 10 feature arenas, 30+ live events, 30+
instructional seminars, 100's of demonstrations, open championships and
numerous challenges visitors can participate in. Alongside the themed zones
there is a film festival and a non-stop schedule of demonstrations, displays
and seminars featuring the very best National and International Masters.
Seni has gradually built the largest series of tournaments anywhere in the
world, from The Gracie Invitational and the Capoeira Campeonata, the only
events of their type in Europe, to events such as the London Karate Classic
and London Wu Shu Open. Newly planned tournaments for Seni08 include
Fencing, Freestyle, Wing Chun and an All Style Championships, making ten
tournaments in total across 4000sqm, 16 matted arenas involving some 4,000
athletes!
